Urban Chocolatier

Urban Chocolatier is a dessert lounge that I found through Instagram, the place is quite new as it just opened this year. The various dessert pictures posted on their Instagram handle looked irresistible and heavenly. As a chocolate lover and a person who has a sweet tooth, I had to pay the place a visit. The following pictures are what we ordered and it was one too many desserts for two.

(Left to Right) Chocolate Fondant, Bella Nutella with Sliced strawberries, Chocolate Amore cake, Cookie Dough Mugshot and Salted Caramel and Hazelnut Truffle Milkshake

The captions of the food are from left to right.

Chocolate Fondant: A lightly baked chocolate pudding with oozing molten chocolate in the middle that is served with slices of strawberries and ice cream. Price: £5.95

Bella Nutella with Strawberries: Waffles spread with Nutella and chocolate sauce that is served with a soft vanilla ice cream. This waffle is light and fluffy, and the combination of Nutella, chocolate sauce, slightly sour strawberries and vanilla ice cream goes well together. However, it is not the best waffle that I have ever tasted. Price: £5.50

Chocolate Amore cake: Hot, rich and gooey chocolate fudge cake. The fudge cake is chocolatey but it is a little too sweet for a cake. The layers of the cake are not intact and there seem to be a sweet sauce that tasted like condensed milk in between the middle and bottom layer of the cake. Price: £3.25

Cookie Dough Mugshot: Freshly baked cookie dough with a shot of molten chocolate that is topped with soft vanilla ice cream. The first bite of the cookie dough with ice cream was not bad. Despite that, after a few bites in I found it once again, too sweet. I could hear the crunch of sugar when chewing the chocolate chip cookie, and this is perhaps one of the reasons why it is too sweet. Too much sugar! Price: £4.95

Salted Caramel and Hazelnut Truffle Milkshake: Freshly made chocolates that customers can pick from that is blended into a milkshake. I love milkshakes and decided to try something other than the normal oreo or vanilla milkshake. Despite that, after just a sip of this drink, the sweetness was a little too overwhelming. Price: £4.95

Chocolate Shots ( 2 shots of melted milk chocolate and 1 shot of white chocolate)

Chocolate Shots ( 2 shots of melted milk chocolate and 1 shot of white chocolate)

These Chocolate Shots come in three, with a shot each of white, milk and dark melted chocolate. However, I chose to have 2 milk chocolates instead as I am not a fan of dark chocolate. As an avid chocolate lover that has pretty high standards when it comes to chocolate, I did not really like these shots because although the taste of chocolate is there, it tasted just like a melted bar of Cadbury chocolate that is really thick and rich. Once again, these shots were a little too sweet.

Having a sweet tooth, the desserts were quite overwhelming due to its sweetness, and that is saying something. In addition to that, as someone who has tried chocolate from known chocolatiers, the taste of chocolate does not meet the standard that has been set by previous chocolatiers.
