Duck & Waffle

Duck and Waffle is a famous fine dining restaurant that is located on the 40th floor of Heron Tower. The restaurant is walled with huge floor to ceiling windows, which allows diners to have a clear and stunning panoramic view of the city of London, making them feel like they are dining up in the air among the clouds. Duck and Waffle is a European cum British inspired restaurant and it is one of the few restaurants in London that are open 24/7. Duck & Waffle has menus for different times of the day; breakfast, brunch, all day and late night, with various dishes that are designed for tasting and sharing.

Oysters

Oysters

Oysters were ordered for starters because we were curious to find out the difference between the 6 different kinds of oysters on the menu. We asked the waitress and she told us that all the oysters on the menu have different tastes, some have a sweeter taste, or are saltier, and some are rich and creamy whereas others are light and refreshing. The oysters in the picture are the Wild Colchester Rocks Oyster. They were unlike any other ordinary oyster that I have ever tasted as it is rich in flavour and salty with meat that is firm and creamy. These fresh Wild Colchester Rocks Oyster are probably one of the best oysters that I’ve eaten before.

Duck and Waffle

As the name of the restaurant suggests, Duck and Waffle’s signature dish is, of course, Duck and Waffle. The dish is a crispy duck leg confit and a fried duck egg on a waffle with mustard maple syrup. The fusion of juicy, savoury duck, egg and sweet maple syrup-ed waffle is an extraordinary experience for my tastebuds. Who would have ever thought these things would complement each other so well? All in all, it was a lovely and substantial dish, however, it is not the best food ever but I loved the unique experience.
